Abstract
This tutorial discusses advanced techniques in automated composition, illustrated by pieces 7-11 from the author's Eleven Demonstrations for solo clarinet. Techniques addressed include prioritization of decision and options, statistical feedback, recursive grammars, and search methods drawn from artificial intelligence. "Left-to-right" compositional strategies are contrasted with "top-down" and "bottom-up" approaches.
